Wood-roasted coffee, shaped by an Italian family tradition.

A coffee story reaching back to 1981 and continuing in every espresso prepared for customers at 9 Harrow Place.

A tradition dating to 1981.

Coffee is part of Fazenda’s family story. The tradition reaches back to 1981 and continues in the espresso prepared for customers in Spitalfields today.

The family roastery’s confirmed location and the full meaning of Fazenda’s wood-roasting process will be added after the owners approve the technical and historical details.

Fazenda / The roasting process

The art of
the roast.

Four moments. One remarkable change.

Follow the transformation

  1. The beginning

A little green bean. A world of possibility.

Before roasting, coffee beans are green and firm. They enter the hopper, ready for their transformation.

  2. The source of warmth

The quiet power of a wood fire.

Wood burns in a separate firebox below the drum. Its heat is carefully managed as the beans begin to warm.

  3. Colour & character

    In constant motion. Slowly transformed.

Inside the rotating drum, the beans keep moving as heat develops their colour and aroma. Watch them deepen from green to brown.

  4. The final movement

One last turn, before the cup.

The roasted beans are released into the cooling tray. Agitation and airflow carry heat away, bringing the roast to a close.

Coffee prepared in the café.

The coffee story becomes immediate at Fazenda: prepared at the machine, served across the counter and shared with the rhythm of the café around it.
